why do drinks that have caffeine and zero caories retain water weight? or someting like that..? what about coffee?

Katie S replied: "zero calories means no sugar but lots of sodium the sodium will absorb all the water and keep it in your system for a bit so it retains the weight"

molly81706 replied: "DIET COKE Everybody's default diet drink THE CAFFEINE FIX 45 mg THE CALORIES 0 THE OTHER STUFF A lot of flavorings and colorings, not much else-call it caffeine lite WATER JOE For the purist: plain H2O with a jolt THE CAFFEINE FIX 60 mg 16.9-ounce bottle THE CALORIES 0 THE OTHER STUFF Artesian water and caffeine—that's it. No additives, no carbonation"

Tracy K replied: "salt"

Noelle D replied: "Stay away from sugar-free products. Aspartame is harmful!"

ck replied: "Because zero calorie drinks contain artificial sweeteners which hold on to water and body fat. Double whammy there. Plus, caffeine is a diuretic, so you initially get rid of excess water. But, because our bodies are smarter than we are, they go into water conservation mode. Your body will hold onto excess water since it knows you're putting chemicals in it that steal its water. The best thing to do to prevent water retention is drink more water--plain water, not flavored or sugar-free water. Just plain water."

Has anyone ever took a caffeine and water pill together to help loose weight? I heard those two together helps for weight loss?

Esmail L replied: "The formula for losing weight is simple - eat less and workout more often - the difficulties appear when we really try to put that into operation! There are a lot of stumbling blocks in the big wide world don't you think?! The sole thing which definitely showed results for me is wu-yi tea, it can be viewed in the resource box below, they have a limited number of free trials in stock, it has been reported in Reader's Digest and USA Today. I shed twenty pounds, it definitely does work!"

Animesh replied: "nope...but caffeine rocks.....:D"

peekaboo replied: "Sounds like a lot of strain on your kidneys to me. That can't be healthy, and any weight you lose will just be water not fat anyway, so long term its not going to help at all."

Harold M replied: "Sounds pretty dangerous. Check around for some free low cal recipes. here are a few articles about boosting metabolism, and tips for starting a diet regiment including contacting a physician so you don't kill yourself trying."

gasguy695 replied: "i know just by taking the water pill it makes you go to the bathroom like 10 times a day and then a weight loss both are not that good at least in my eyes i have tried and i still have this beer belly damn it!"

How to get rid of water weight? Yesterday I ate a pretty big dinner. I woke up this morning and peed and then weighed myself and I have gained 2 pounds! Can this still be water weight even though I peed before hand? If so, how do you get rid of water weight? I heard drinking tons of water and caffeine can get rid of all the water weight but that sons kind of counter-productive.

1 hot mama :) replied: "Omg same thing here but its 4 pounds :( I dont know what to do :( Good luck XX"

jamman replied: "Water weight will not make you look fatter. Don't worry about it. That 2 lbs will get peed out over the next few days."

Shaggy replied: "SWEAT!"

klo15 replied: "last year before wrestling macthes i would have to lose water weight all the time. what i did was when i went to sleep i would wear two pairs of sweatpants, three pairs of socks, two t shirts, two sweatshirts, mittens and a winter hat. if ur going to do this be prepared to wake up in a pool of sweat. This is pretty extreme but always works."

Caffeine and weight loss? ok.. some people will say that it can make you drop water weight for a short term loss....but I want to ask about the LONG term goals. What effect does caffeine have on the long term weight loss goal? Does it cause more hunger or change metabolism...etc? Are their actualy statistics on that? And it what quatities?... so a person who consumes a glass of coffee to get moving might benefit, but a person constatly on red bull might suffer? THANKS! :) Thanks

lizzy replied: "Caffeine increase the metabolism so that your body use up more calories. You are using more calories in ratio to your intake of calories, so you are likely to lose weight. However if your intake of calories is a lot more than what your body requires, your will gain weight regardless of caffeine. Because even the total calories used with increased metabolism is still more than what your body needs."

how can I get rid of excess water weight? without taking a diuretic or caffeine (I don't have any caffeine at all) is there a way to get rid of water weight... i'm just feeling bloated. would appreciate any advice

brianwillis689 replied: "Every morning on an empty stomach, Have a cup of warm water with pure honey and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and it should even out."

Can caffeine cause a weight loss plateau? i have tried everything, every diet and nothing works! then im thinking to get off coffee, it's the only thing left in my diet. coffee does you more harm than good by making you fat and retaining water at the same time. is that why im plateauing?

shewrites replied: "It's possible. Coffee can increase your blood pressure and the output of stress hormones like cortisol. Although the coffee has diuretic properties, the stress the coffee causes may be making you hold onto weight. Cutting back on your coffee drinking, switching to decaf or water may help you shed pounds. Take a look at. "

Help..How to loose water retention weight? I went on the contraceptive implant 1 year ago and had heard that it makes you gain weight. After about 6 months i started to put on weight and after 10 months gained over 2 stone in total and had it taken out straight away. The weight gained is not fat but water retention and i was told that over the period of about 3 months the weight would eventually drop off. So far it has been nearly 5 months and i can not see any difference. I would like to know if there is any way to help loose water retention quicker, and a 'healthy' lifestyle does not make that much of a difference because its not fat its water. I need to know if there is any medication/things i can do to help loose it and how does it work? I have tried things such as cutting back on caffeine and drinking more water but nothing's helped. I am not vain and do not want to be skinny but this massive weight gain has made me very self conscious because i have got very visable stretch marks because of it and all i want is to be myself again. Thank you in advance. x

potluckgirl replied: "Look up "natural diuretics" on the internet. Some foods, such as celery, will help with this."

Nutritionist UK replied: "Water retention is a sign that your metabolism is unbalanced. This is very common after using contraceptive hormones. They cause disturbances in the way your body uses vitamins and minerals etc. Diuretics don't help this kind of water retention, and could make it worse by dehydrating you. The water retention "bible" is a book called the Waterfall Diet. It looks at every possible cause of water retention and how to deal with it as quickly as possible. It shows you how to test yourself to find your safe foods, and there's also a list of foods to eat more of, like celery and blueberries."

So it's Sat. night, weigh-in is anytime Mon....just want to do what I can to help-shd I drink lotsa water now & hope it "flushes" more out? caffeine? green tea? coffee? should I weigh in after exercise? someone said unless you sweat like a --well, whatever, that weighing yourself first thing in the morning is lowest weight even if you exercise and fast for a while that day & weigh in later....any wrestlers, flight attendants, boxers, weight-loss contestants kind enough to give me advice? I'm kinda bloated now but don't want to go out and buy a diuretic. Top 3 contestants get free gym memberships of varying lengths and free sessions with trainer so it's worth a push now.I'll report results hereTues.! THANK YOU!
